Zimmerman Trial

7/16/2013

Feelings are running high in the wake of the Zimmerman Trial.  Two things seem to be particularly clear.  The first is that, as a nation, we are far from creating the beloved community about which Martin Luther King dreamed 50 years ago.  The second is that we aren't even able to agree on what that beloved community will look like.  We are revisiting subjects like white privilege and systemic racism, starting from what seems to be the beginning in too many circles.

We in the UU Metro NY District are taking some time for a considered response.  We are thinking about ways to organize, ways to educate, ways to align ourselves with our highest values.

If you'd like to get involved, fill out a "contact us" form and let us know.

In the meantime, let's all walk gently in the hope of a more just world.
